El día 21 de Marzo Domain Name Wire informaba que las reservas de dominios .xxx habían llegado a las 300.282. Hoy ya son 519.844 según se puede ver en el contador que ICM (blog, facebook, twitter) ha puesto.

¿Qué significa esto? Nada o muy poco, ya que no tiene ningún coste realizar una reserva de un dominio .xxx. Tampoco hay ninguna garantía de que los dominios acaben siendo registrados por aquellos que han expresado interés en los mismos. Es más un sistema de notificación que otra cosa. Los propios términos y condiciones lo dicen "se le dará a Usted la oportunidad de registrar dominios que haya reservado (pero no estará obligado a hacerlo) a través de un Agente Registrador acreditado por la ICANN. Este sTLD está reservado a la comunidad cuyo objeto es el entretenimiento orientado a adultos". ICM permitirá a elementos externos a la comunidad a la que va dirigido registrar dominios en modo defensivo para que queden bloqueados:

  Pre-owned (Sunrise A for Trademark Holders, Sunrise C for Non-Trademark holders, Sunrise B for I.P. Protection)

  You have the right to apply (on behalf of your customers) for domains in .xxx that they already own in .com, .net or another TLD, such as a country code TLD. This process is called Name Reservation. To do this, provide us with the existing domain(s) that your customers own.

You may submit as many domains as you control for your customers, but only up to 1000 at a time using this form. Names must be entered one domain name per line. Enter ONLY the domain name, NOT in the form of a URL.

  Expressions of Interest (Landrush)

  We are also accepting expressions of interest from members of the sponsored Community for names you or your customers do not own already own in other TLDs but you, or they may wish to register, should they not be pre-reserved by others during this process.

You will be required to certify that you are eligible to submit each reservation request you place. We will contact the registered owner of the names you list and verify your rights to register those names before finally allocating the corresponding .xxx name to you. If you do not own the domain in another TLD, then please do not waste time applying. ICM reserves the right to cancel all of your reservation requests if it finds you have committed fraud or otherwise abused the reservation request system.
